Wind Test Mast delayed until 2012, but Severn Trent, have not abandoned plans for the wind turbine.
The successful appeal allows Severn Trent to build the monitoring mast within three years.
A spokesman for Severn Trent said: "In response to concerns raised by the local community we have decided to delay our investigation into Aston Hall Farm until September 2012.
"We plan to establish a wind turbine site at one of the other sites we have been developing which could then be used as a reference site where the community can see and experience a development first hand."
Keith Washington, who lives 600 metres from the site and is secretary of STOPstw, feels the delay just means residents must wait longer for a final decision.

It is with much regret that we have to advise that Severn Trent Waters Appeal was allowed. STOPstw will issue a formal response in the next week or so when we have had chance to digest the content of the decision.
Stone MP, Bill Cash has strongly condemned the decision of the Planning Inspectorate in giving the go-ahead for the planning permission for the erection of a 60 metre high wind monitoring mast for a period of two years on land at Aston Hall Farm.
“It has long been our concern that Severn Trent Water would win this Planning Appeal after Stafford Borough Council initially refused the application.
“I will continue to work with ‘Stone & Trent Valley Opposed to Severn Trent Water’ campaign group, and particularly Paul Shaw, Keith Washington, Kev Ryder and all local residents who have opposed this wind mast.
“I objected to the proposed mast on the grounds that it is in an entirely unsuitable location, it threatens public access, it is a monstrous obstacle on the skyline, and shows little concern for the landscape, listed buildings, wildlife and biodiversity.
"On top of that, wind power generation is highly inefficient and loaded with subsidies and we simply cannot afford to allow this renewables energy policy to carry on in the long-term.”

8 June 2010
On Tuesday, 8 June, planning inspector Dee Burrows from the Planning Inspectorate attended the site as part of the appeal process. A decision is expected in five to eight weeks’ time.
Severn Trent Water is appealing against Stafford Borough Council’s refusal to grant planning permission for the mast at Aston Hall Farm in Aston by Stone.
Around 50 campaigners opposing the mast were there as she arrived at the site, and the inspector spoke briefly with members of action group Stop (Stone and Trent Valley Oppose Severn Trent Water) as well as borough council and appellants’ representatives.
